paid from your mortgage.
A better energy label and a lower energy bill. Arranged through your installer, with no upfront costs.
A better label. A lower energy bill.
Solar panels, a heat pump and insulation improve your energy label and cut your usage from day one. For these measures your lender may also lend more than for an ordinary renovation.
- Less spent on energy, every month
- Extra borrowing capacity for measures that improve your label
- Your new label is registered after the work, included
Often a lower rate. And a home that's worth more.
A better label often makes your home worth more; a certified valuer determines the value. Many lenders also give an interest discount, often on your entire mortgage.
- Valuation by a certified valuer, included
- Label discount, at many lenders on your entire mortgage
- Mortgage interest is usually tax-deductible
Your numbers in minutes. Applied the same day.
You log in once with DigiD and your data comes straight from the source. Nothing to retype, no weeks of waiting on paperwork.
- Your numbers: a few minutes after your DigiD login
- Check and signing: the same day
- Valuation: usually within four working hours
- Binding offer: count on a few weeks
All in one increase. No separate loan.
A better label, a lower energy bill, often a lower rate and a higher home value. It all goes into your existing mortgage, as a new part next to what you already have: mortgage interest instead of a personal loan, and your current loan parts stay as they are.

That many households have already paid for their solar panels, heat pump or home battery through their mortgage. Together they emit 6,400 tonnes less CO₂ every year.
As of September 2026. CO₂ calculated at 0.33 kg per kWh of electricity and 1.78 kg per m³ of gas.

What you pay, and what you keep
Your new monthly payment is lower than what you save on energy. Here's what that looks like for an increase of €21,275.
Example: increase of €21,275 (quote €20,500 plus €775 mediation fee), 30-year annuity, 4.0% interest (indicative, September 2026), savings €1,950 per year. Gross monthly payment. You'll see your own numbers after one DigiD login through your installer's link.
Frequently asked questions
Why an increase and not a personal loan?
An increase is a new part within your existing mortgage. You pay mortgage interest, usually lower than the rate on a personal loan, that interest is often tax-deductible and you repay over 30 or 15 years. Your current loan parts stay as they are, so you don't take out a new mortgage.
What does it cost?
The mediation fee is €775 (VAT exempt). It's financed within your mortgage and only paid once it completes. Included: the desktop valuation with report and the registration of your new energy label.
Why do I have to log in with DigiD?
So that your income, tax data, pension and student debt come directly from the source. Nothing to retype, and the numbers are verified. You log in with the government itself; we only see the result.
Do I have to go to my own lender?
Usually we increase with your current lender. If that's not possible, you'll see it right away in your numbers. For an alternative you can get advice from De Hollandse Rekenkamer.
Can I start an application myself?
No. groenbudget only works with participating sustainability partners. If one of them does the work on your home, your installer sends you a personal link to your application, with your quote already filled in. Not sure whether your installer participates? Ask them, or email us.
