What it is

Heating with warmth from the outside air

A heat pump takes warmth from the outside air or the ground and brings it up to temperature for your heating. It runs on electricity. Your gas use drops sharply and your power use rises somewhat; overall you spend less.

Types of heat pump

Hybrid: works together with your boiler, which only helps out on cold days
All-electric (air-to-water): replaces your boiler completely
Ground-source: takes warmth from the ground, quiet and efficient but more expensive

Good to know

Before you start

A heat pump works best in a well-insulated home. For an all-electric pump, insulation is often a requirement.
It heats at a lower temperature. Underfloor heating or larger radiators help.
The outdoor unit makes noise. Choose a good spot together with your installer.
Apply for the ISDE subsidy in time and keep your invoices; the conditions are on the RVO website.

Financing

How to finance it with groenbudget

This measure improves your energy label. That's why your lender may lend more for it than for a regular renovation: you get extra borrowing capacity on top of your regular capacity.

We don't deduct the ISDE subsidy from your increase: you finance the full amount of your quote. You receive the subsidy after the work and can use it to repay extra, usually penalty-free.

Questions about this measure

Hybrid or all-electric?

A hybrid heat pump is cheaper and works in almost any home. All-electric saves more gas but needs a well-insulated home. Your installer advises what suits your home.

Will I get a subsidy?

ISDE subsidy is possible for most heat pumps. You apply for it yourself at RVO and receive it after the work. We don't deduct it automatically.

Can I finance insulation and a heat pump together?

Yes. Everything you have done goes into one application and one increase. That combination often gives the biggest label jump.
