Insulation
Keeping the heat in: more comfort, lower heating costs and the foundation for every next step, such as a heat pump.
The foundation of an efficient home
Heat escapes through an uninsulated roof, wall or floor. Insulation keeps it in, so you need to heat less. You notice it right away: fewer draughts, no cold floors and a more even temperature throughout the house.
What you can insulate
- Roof insulation, on the inside or outside
- Cavity wall insulation, if your home has a cavity
- Facade insulation, on the outside or inside of the wall
- Floor insulation through the crawl space
- Pipe insulation for heating and hot-water pipes in unheated spaces
More comfort, less heating
The savings depend on what you insulate and the current state of your home. Your installer puts them in their quote; you see them next to your new monthly payment.
- Lower heating costs and a warmer home
- A better energy label, and with it extra borrowing capacity
- ISDE subsidy possible, which you receive yourself
- Your home becomes ready for a heat pump
Before you start
- After insulating, your home becomes more airtight. Make sure there's good ventilation to prevent damp.
- Start where most heat escapes; that's often the roof.
- Have your cavity and crawl space checked for suitability first.
- ISDE conditions for insulation differ per measure. Check on the RVO website what applies to you.
How to finance it with groenbudget
This measure improves your energy label. That's why your lender may lend more for it than for a regular renovation: you get extra borrowing capacity on top of your regular capacity.
We don't deduct the ISDE subsidy from your increase: you finance the full amount of your quote. You receive the subsidy after the work and can use it to repay extra, usually penalty-free.
- We calculate with the amount from your installer's quote
- Everything in one mortgage increase, no separate loan
- Repay over 30 years (lowest monthly payment) or 15 years
- Paid out through a construction deposit, based on your installer's invoices
Questions about this measure
Which insulation gets me the most?
That differs per home. In many older homes most heat escapes through the roof and walls. Your installer looks at what has the most effect in your home.
Can I combine several types of insulation?
Yes. Everything goes into one application. Several measures together often give a bigger label jump and can be favourable for the subsidy.
Do I need to insulate before getting a heat pump?
Often yes, especially for an all-electric heat pump. You can include both in the same application.
