Home battery
Store your solar power for the evening. It can be financed within your regular borrowing capacity.
Storing your solar power
During the day your panels often generate more than you use. A home battery stores that surplus, so you use it yourself in the evening instead of feeding it back. With a dynamic energy contract it can also charge when power is cheap.
What you choose
- The storage capacity, matched to your panels and usage
- A battery with your existing inverter, or a hybrid inverter
- Smart control on a dynamic energy contract
Get more from your own power
What a battery gets you depends on your panels, your usage and your energy contract. Your installer puts the savings in their quote.
- Use more of your own solar power, feed back less
- Less affected by feed-in costs
- Possible benefit with a dynamic energy contract
- In the same increase as your other measures
Before you start
- A battery is mainly worthwhile if you have or are getting solar panels.
- After net metering ends on 1 January 2027, using your own power becomes more important.
- Choose a dry, frost-free spot and have it installed by a certified installer.
- Ask your installer what the battery realistically gets you in your situation.
How to finance it with groenbudget
This measure doesn't count for your energy label. You can still finance it, within your regular borrowing capacity. If you combine it with a measure that improves your label, we include both in the same increase.
There is no national subsidy for a home battery. The battery doesn't count for your energy label either, so we include it within your regular borrowing capacity.
- We calculate with the amount from your installer's quote
- Everything in one mortgage increase, no separate loan
- Repay over 30 years (lowest monthly payment) or 15 years
- Paid out through a construction deposit, based on your installer's invoices
Questions about this measure
Why doesn't a battery count for my label?
The energy label looks at how much energy your home needs and generates. A battery doesn't change that; it only shifts when you use your power.
Do I need solar panels?
Not necessarily, but without panels you can only benefit from price differences with a dynamic contract. Most people combine a battery with panels.
Can I finance panels and a battery together?
Yes, in one application. The panels count for your label and give extra borrowing capacity; the battery falls within your regular capacity.
