Cooling and extra heating
An air-to-air unit cools in summer and can provide extra heat in winter, so your boiler has less to do. An indoor unit per room is connected to a unit outside.

Comfort in every season
An air conditioner runs on electricity. If you use it for extra heating, you burn less gas. Your installer puts what that gets you in their quote.

Before you start
- The outdoor unit makes noise. Consider the spot and your neighbours.
- If you live in an apartment, ask your owners' association (VvE) for permission first.
- Have it installed by a certified installer; that's mandatory because of the refrigerants.
- Sometimes a permit is needed, for example on the front of the house. Check with your municipality.
How to finance it with groenbudget
This measure doesn't count for your energy label. You can still finance it, within your regular borrowing capacity. If you combine it with a measure that improves your label, we include both in the same increase.
There is no national subsidy for air conditioning. In our calculation air conditioning doesn't count for your energy label, so we include it within your regular borrowing capacity.

Questions about this measure
Can air conditioning replace my boiler?
Usually not completely. It can provide extra heat, but it doesn't heat water for your shower. If you want to go gas-free, look at a heat pump.
Does air conditioning count for my energy label?
Not in our calculation. You can still finance it, within your regular borrowing capacity.
Do I need permission?
Sometimes. In an apartment from your VvE, and for an outdoor unit on the front of the house sometimes from your municipality.
