What it is

Fresh air in a well-insulated home

The better your home is insulated, the more important good ventilation becomes. An energy-efficient ventilation system refreshes the air using little power. With heat recovery (balanced ventilation), the outgoing air warms the fresh air coming in, so you lose hardly any heat.

Good to know

Before you start

You finance ventilation as an energy-saving measure together with another measure, such as insulation or a heat pump.
Balanced ventilation needs ducts. Have someone check whether your home has room for them.
Filters need replacing once or twice a year. Ask what that costs.
Have the system properly balanced so it runs quietly and efficiently.

How to finance it with groenbudget

This measure improves your energy label. That's why your lender may lend more for it than for a regular renovation: you get extra borrowing capacity on top of your regular capacity.

There is no national ISDE subsidy for ventilation. Check whether your municipality has a local scheme.

Which system suits my home?

That depends on your home and the space for ducts. Balanced ventilation with heat recovery saves the most; demand-controlled extraction is easier to install. Your installer advises what fits.

Does the system make noise?

A properly balanced system is barely audible. Have the unit placed where the sound won't bother you, for example in the attic.
